AN ODE TO PICKLEBALL

BY DAVE LIBERTINI - OCTOBER 5, 2023

The wheels started spinning at the courts by the Dresser school.

Maybe an indoor facility in the winter here would be pretty cool?

But is it just us old folks that like to play,

Or will this sport live to see another day.

So we did some research and a market study

It seems everyone had a pickleball buddy.

Ironically under thirty is the fastest growing age band of players,

Well I guess so much for the nay Sayers.

Pickleball is here to stay,

Long after our playing days.

So how do we accomplish this task?

And have a place that will last.

Well let’s look to lease a space,

There must be one near someplace?

Unfortunately we could not find one available that met our needs,

So we decided to buy some land and plant some seeds.

And what to our wondering eyes would appear

But 11.3 wonderful acres really near.

Some great land right on highway eight

we decided to buy it on a happy hour date.

Off to the races planning the facility we are,

With an opening day hopefully not too far.

But soon we found out we couldn’t move at our pace,

So we went back to looking to rent a space.

One of the sites we liked earlier now wanted to deal,

So a week later now the possibility of opening soon was very real.

A decision was made to rent a temporary space

And continue to plan at the other place.

Yes we will be open in our temporary headquarters by November first,

But don’t think for a minute we have lost the highway eight thirst..

There is just a lot to be done and the DNR wetland study was number one.

So while we cross other obstacles off the list that must get done.

Pickleball will be played at our facility a half mile behind marketplace,

We hope you will enjoy this temporary space.

We will not have all the state of the art features here,

But trust they are very near,

We are doing our best to get ready for opening day,

My guess is  its just three weeks away.

RESERVATIONS WILL BEGIN AS SOON AS WE OPEN THE DOORS FOR PLAY!
